Europe’s economy in three official readings
EU unemployment stands at 6.0%, inflation at 2.3% and the latest quarterly GDP move at +0.5%.
The EU unemployment rate was 6.0% in 2026-06, while annual consumer-price inflation was 2.3% in 2025-12. Real GDP changed +0.5% from the prior quarter in 2026-Q2.
These measures arrive on separate calendars. Unemployment describes unused labor, HICP tracks consumer prices on a harmonized basis, and quarterly GDP measures economy-wide output momentum. Their reference periods are retained rather than forcing them into an artificial single date.
The figures cover the EU27 aggregate. Euro-area readings and individual member states can differ materially and will be added as the European desk expands.
